YOGA classes will continue on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm and Saturday mornings at 10:00 am at In the Pink.  We encourage our cancer survivors to attend these free classes.  Yoga has been proven to assist in the healing process.  Please RSVP for the classes by calling 372-0029.  The RSVP allows us to plan for space.  Thanks!

July 12th:  Nutrition for Cancer Patients 2:00-3:00pm.  This class is offered for FREE at Baptist Medical Center Beaches Wilson Center, Suite 105.

July 12th:  Man-to-Man Prostate Support Group 6:15pm.  This class is offered for FREE at Baptist Medical Center Beaches Wilson Center, Suite 105. 

July 13th, 20th, & 27th:  Beaches Cancer Support Group 6:00-7:30pm.  This class is offered for FREE at Baptist Medical Center Beaches Wilson Center, Suite 100.

July 15th:  Yoga in the Park Committee Meeting 6:00pm at In the Pink.

July 18th:  F.R.I.E.N.D.S. (Friends Respond in Every Need Doing Something) Faith-Based Cancer Support Group 5:30-7:00pm.  This class is offered for FREE at Baptist Medical Center Beaches Wilson Cancer Center, Suite 105.

July 26th:  Living With Cancer.  10:00-11:00am.  This class is offered for FREE at Baptist Medical Center Beaches Wilson Cancer Center, Suite 105. 

LOOKING AHEAD:  LOOK GOOD, FEEL BETTER CLASS will take place on August 8th at 10:00am at Baptist Medical Center Beaches Wilson Cancer Center, Suite 105.  *To register for this class, you must call 1-800-395-LOOK three weeks prior to the class.  They order a make-up kit for each participant.

VOTING FOR THE ENERGIZER HALL OF FAME AWARD continued through May 13th at : http://energizerkeepgoinghalloffame.com/Finalists.aspx?finalists=JeriMillard  The winner will be notified at the end of May, so keep checking back for the results.

May 7th from 10am-2pm:  The drive-thru SHRED PARTY sponsored by Vanguard Financial Strategies and Ultrashred Technologies was a great success.  This free event raised funds for In the Pink.  The public was allowed to bring up to 15 boxes of documents to the shred party.  Alot of people took advantage of the free SHREDDING!  FREE gifts, food, entertainment and refreshments were provided.   Thanks to all who attended and a big thank you to Vanguard Financial Strategies and Ultrashred Technologies!

May 30th:  In the Pink will be closed to celebrate Memorial Day.  Have a safe, happy holiday! 

June 3rd:  In the Pink will be closed to attend the 2011 Eve Awards Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency, Jacksonville Riverfront.  Our own Jeri Millard has been nominated for outstanding service as a Volunteer this year.  If you would like to attend the luncheon, tickets can be purchased for $30 by visiting:  www.jacksonville.com/eve_awards

YOGA will be held every Wednesday night at 6:30pm and Saturday morning at 10:00am.  Our classes are very well attended so please do not forget to RSVP to 372-0029.  We will try to limit the class size to 14 people so everyone can enjoy themselves.  If you are unable to make it to the beaches area, there are three other free classes for cancer patients held throughout the Jacksonville area with instructors trained by the Christina Phipps Foundation.  To learn more about the locations and times of these classes, please visit www.christinaphippsfoundation.org .

APRIL 6TH @ 2:00PM AT IN THE PINK:  HELP US CELEBRATE JERI MAKING THE TOP TEN FINALISTS IN THE NATION!  

APRIL 7TH:  BREAST CANCER 101 CLASS at 6:30 pm at In the Pink.  This is a very informative class for all women with breast cancer.  Cynthia Carrasco, RN, will answer all of your questions and help clarify some of the myths associated with breast cancer.  Please come.  You will be glad you did!

APRIL 11TH at 8pm:  Come to Jerry’s Grille on Atlantic Blvd. for our Karaoke Audition Night!  We are looking for performers for our ROCKSTAR float for the annual Opening of the Beaches Parade!   We want singers, groupies, and lots of cancer survivors to participate on our float and as walkers in the parade.  There is something for everyone.  If you can shake it, we hope you make it!

APRIL 12TH:  ACS RELAY FOR LIFE 2011 CANCER SURVIVOR DINNER AT 6PM at First Christian Church of the Beaches, 2125 Ocean Front, Neptune Beach.  Celebrate and honor YOU!  Please ask your caregiver or a guest to join you.  Kindly RSVP by April 8th to 904-391-3645. 

APRIL 15TH at 6PM at IN THE PINK:  Come help us decorate our float for the Opening of the Beaches Parade!  This is sure to be fun.  Help us hammer nails, tie ribbons, etc.  This year the theme is ROCKSTAR so we have alot of ideas. 

APRIL 16TH:  AFTER MORNING YOGA, IN THE PINK WILL CLOSE AT 11AM TO SUPPORT RELAY FOR LIFE AT THE BEACHES.  JOIN US AT FLETCHER HIGH SCHOOL PRACTICE FIELDS!!! 

APRIL 17TH at 2PM:  Atlantic Beach Opening of the Beaches Parade!  Sure to be fun!  Don’t miss it!

APRIL 20TH at 4PM:  Opening of the new Baptist Beaches Resource Center.  Come tour the new center.  Thank you, Baptist, for making this available to our residents at the beach!

YOGA will be held every Wednesday evening from 6:30-7:30 pm and Saturday morning from 10:00-11:00 am this month!  Please join us for these free sessions.  Learn to breathe, relax, and stretch with other cancer survivors.  Our yoga instructors are both trained by the Christina Phipps Foundation to work with cancer patients.  Bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing.  RSVP to 372-0029.  See you there!  For additional locations providing free yoga for therapeutic rehabilitation of cancer patients, visit www.christinaphippsfoundation.com/classes.htm.

March 8th:  6-8pm.  Kick-off party at Culhane’s Irish Pub for the Knickers fore Knockers golf tournament.  $10 donation includes h’ors deovres and a drink ticket.  Live music by Just Jazz Quintet.  Stop by and register your team! 

March 10th:  Join us at the North Florida Women’s Expo from 11 am until 7 pm.  This inaugural event is being held at the UNF University Center.  Free admission & Free parking.  This event is being held to support local businesses and bring a wide variety of opportunities to the women of Northeast Florida.  Enjoy the day!  Door prizes, drawings, giveaways…it’s all designed for YOU.  This event will also support two (2) local charities…..In the Pink … a non-profit boutique and salon for women living with cancer AND the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women moment, the national call to increase awareness about heart disease and to inspire women to take charge of their heart health.  Heart disease is still the No. 1 killer of women. March 10th:  Do not miss our BREAST CANCER 101 CLASS offered for free at 6:30 pm at In the Pink.  Back by popular demand!  Our resident breast cancer guru, Cynthia Carrasco, RN, will discuss anything and everything about breast cancer.  You can bring your pathology report and discuss the specific type of breast cancer you have.  Just when you thought you knew everything about breast cancer…there is always new information.  RSVP to In the Pink at 372-0029.   

March 13th:  Second Annual Knickers fore Knockers golf tournament.  Tee-time is 1:00 pm at Queen’s Harbour Yacht & Country Club.  All proceeds benefit In the Pink.  $125 per player includes 18 holes of golf, prizes and buffet dinner following the tournament.  For more information, contact Sally Bell at 704-5630 or email Sally at sallykbell@comcast.net.  

March 18th:  7pm.  Episcopal High School vs.  Ponte Vedra High School play in their second annual Pink Baseball Game to benefit In the Pink.   This year’s event will be held at Episcopal High School.  Get your game face on!

March 31st:  Join us at In the Pink for our Laughology class at 6pm.  You need to do this for yourself!  Learn how to heal through laughter from the Certified…and we mean “Certified” Laughologist, Kathleen Beaudreau!  RSVP Please to 372-0029.

YOGA EVERY SATURDAY AT 1:00 PM AT IN THE PINK!  Join this free class taught by Lisa Evans-Boley.  It’ s not just a Yoga class…it’s a supportive group of women in all stages of cancer treatment and survival! 

FEB 2nd, 9th, 16th, & 23rd @ 6:30 pm.  Help us welcome our new yoga instructor, Euboea Brown, as we begin another yoga class provided for free at In the Pink.  We feel so lucky to have two classes now; one during the week and one on weekends.  Come join us as we learn to heal our bodies through gentle stretching and breathing.  Euboea is trained by the Christina Phipps Foundation, where she learned techniques specific to cancer survivors.

Feb. 8th from 5-9pm.  Art for the Cure held at Suite in Saint John’s Town Center.

Feb. 11th & 12th.  Expo for the 26.2 with Donna presented by Mentor.  Prime Osborn Convention Center.  The expo is open to the public from noon-7pm on Friday and 9am-6pm on Saturday.  Come show your support for the marathon.  Look for our In the Pink booth!

Feb. 13th.  Fourth Annual 26.2 with Donna National Marathon to Finish Breast Cancer.  7:30 am.  Begins and ends at Mayo Clinic.  Benefits Mayo Clinic and Women Living With Breast Cancer.  If you are not running or walking in the event, show your support along the route throughout the beaches area!

Feb. 17th @ 6pm.  FREE Cancer Awareness Prevention seminar presented by 21st Century Oncology of Jacksonville.  Come join Dr. Hank Hill and get the latest in research and education about “Understanding the Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Cancer Management.”  Location of the session is at Sunrise Assisted Living of Jacksonville, 4870 Belfort Road.  For more information, contact Carolyn Lee, Marketing Director for 21st Century Oncology at 710-2852.

Feb. 25th-27th.  Annual Conference for Young Women affected by Breast Cancer.  Peabody Orlando Hotel, Orlando, Florida.  This is the only international conference dedicated to the critical issues of young women affected by breast cancer and those who care about them.  Now in its 11th year,the C4YW (Conference for Young Women)  is a collaboration of Living Beyond Breast Cancer and Young Survival Coalition.  Begins Friday at Noon & ends Sunday at 1:00 pm.
