May 5th:  Get outside and enjoy the weather at the Inaugural 2012 River City Challenge 7am-6pm.   St. John’s Marina, 901 Gulf Life Drive.  Watch paddlers in a fast-moving, action-packed 3-mile/8-mile race and outdoor festival in the heart of beautiful downtown Jacksonville.  Set on the banks of the Southbank Riverwalk, you can watch paddlers from all over the southeast challenge the mighty St. Johns River.  This year’s event also features paddle board, fly fishing and sea kayaking clinics along with education programs from the MOSH and Guana Preserve. Live music and entertainment this year is provided by the Mobros and Saltwater Grass.  Join the fun and plan to attend some of these great kayaking clinics.  Proceeds benefit North Florida Land Trust.  For info, visit http://www.rivercitychallenge.org. 

May 6th:  American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life at Latham Plaza (across the street from Seawalk Pavilion) in Jacksonville Beach.  6am-Midnight.  Show your support by visiting the event and spending a few dollars in support of the great services provided by the American Cancer Society.
