JOIN TEAM IN THE PINK FOR THE ANNUAL MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER WALK SPONSORED BY THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY.  This year the event will be held on Saturday, October 16th at the Jacksonville Beach Seawalk Pavilion.  Registration begins @ 7:30 am and the 5k (3 mile) walk on the beach begins @ 9:00 am.  Sign up on-line @ www.cancer.org/stridesonline and search for the First Coast Beaches.  Form your own team (it only takes two people!) or Join Team In the Pink!  For more information, contact Michelle Knowles @ the ACS Office 904-391-3645 or by email @ Michelle.Knowles@cancer.org.  You can also pick up literature at In the Pink.  There is nothing like walking our beautiful beach for a good cause.  This is your opportunity to honor breast cancer survivors, remember those we have lost, and raise funds and awareness to help end this disease.  It will change your life forever!

SEPTEMBER 15th:  6:30 pm @ Jacksonville Beach Golf Course:  Bands Against Breast Cancer will host their first community outreach program to train women the correct method of breast self-examination.  Free to the community.

SEPTEMBER 22nd:  6:00 pm @ In the Pink.  Back by popular demand.  Our Breast Cancer 101 Series will begin again!  This is Part 1 of the series.  Don’t miss this!  You can bring your pathology report and discuss the type of breast cancer you have.  Just when you thought you knew everything about breast cancer…there is always new information.  RSVP to In the Pink at 372-0029. 

SEPTEMBER 26th:  The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation will host it’s annual breakfast at  8:00 am.  More information to come.

August 14th, 21st, and 28th:  1:00 PM.  Yoga.  Yoga is provided free of charge to our clients and their family/friends.  Please call 372-0029 to register…spaces are limited!  Lisa does a wonderful job with our client’s…new or experienced…come one, come all!  Bring your mat and come to In the Pink at 1:00 p.m. on the scheduled dates.  You will not be disappointed!

August 21st: Designs from the Heart First Annual Fundraiser.  6-9 pm.  The Artistree Gallery, 725 Atlantic Blvd., Atlantic Beach, FL.  Join us in support of this wonderful organization that is dedicated to creating dream rooms for children with life-altering or life-threatening conditions.  The event requires only a $10 donation for admission and will include live music, appetizers, raffle, good times and all for a GOOD CAUSE!  Buy tickets at the door the night of the event or in advance at www.designsfromtheheart.net.

August 26th:  Stonewood Grille.  5 pm.  Booksigning with local author, Ron Whittington, who recently released his first book, “Second Strike.”   Come out and show your support for this venture and buy a copy.  It is a thriller with a unique perspective on terrorism!  Congratulations, Ron, on a fabulous book!  A donation from sales will be made from Ron to a local charity, Bands Against Breast Cancer.

August 27th @ 8:00 pm:  Fight the Good Fight #2.  St. Paul’s By the Sea Episcopal Church, 465 11th Avenue North.  Presented by the River City Men’s Chorus, featuring music ranging from Classical to Gospel.  Directed by R. Wayne Bailey, with Marilyn Parrish as accompanist.  Free and open to the public.  Don’t miss this!  An offering will be taken at the conclusion of the concert and all proceeds will go to In the Pink!  Call 553-8573 for more info.

AUGUST 28TH:  3-9 PM.  BBQ AT IN THE PINK TO CELEBRATE OUR FIRST ANNIVERSARY!  Live music begins at 5pm.  BBQ provided by the best BBQ spot in town…MOJO KITCHEN!  MUSIC BY BORROWED BLUE and GUITAR BARB.  $20 will buy you a BBQ with all the fixin’s.  $3 wine/beer and $1 soft drinks.  COME ONE, COME ALL!  HELP US KICK OFF OUR SECOND YEAR!  All proceeds will help women living with cancer.
